Kiwi's Winter Spin Sessions - 28nd June 2010

With cold, dark mornings currently keeping a few of us housebound, we have decided to introduce Bikeline Winter Spin Sessions.  These will be conducted under the guidance of Club Guru "Kiwi".

The sessions will be held at Bikeline on Monday Evenings between 6:00pm and 7:00pm.  There will be a $10.00 per session charge if you bring along your own bike and trainer.  A limited amount of trainers are available for hire (Bookings Essential) at $5.00 per session.

Instructor Kiwi has decided he will be donating the tuition fee to Bikeline Racings assault on New Zealand next year and we will also be contributing the rental fee to that cause so... all proceeds to your very own race team!!

See you all Monday night for some rowdy music, sweaty bodies and a workout to remember.

NRS Roller Racing - 27nd June 2010

Hopefully you were able to get out over the weekend to checkout some of the National Road Series racing.  There were plenty of punctures and spills over the three days of racing.  Bikeline Racing were setup in Queens Park on the Saturday and had the Roller Racing setup for anyone willing to give it a go.  The girls from FKG were great sports, posting some pretty impressive 500m times.  If you want to give it a go, we will be back down at Bon Amici's soon.  Keep an eye out on the website for more information.

Checkout some of Pat Wood's handy work with the camera at the latest Roller Racing events.  Looks like plenty of effort put in by the competitors as they race for Gary Kristenson's prizes on the night.

Roller Racing Results Night 4 - 10th June 2010

Only the tough were out last night... and Gary, but there was still some awesome racing to be had.  As Justin puts it, we did a tennis draw to decide the final two riders.  From the heats we decided the top eight, then it was elimination from then on.

We are not sure if the venue is booked next week, so make sure you check back on the site to see when the roller racing action returns.

Roller Racing Series Comp - 6th June 2010

Who said statistics are useless?  Check this out.  The current leaders in the most improved competition vowing for the Torq Energy Powder prize are listed below.  An elaborate spreadsheet calculates the averages of the best ride from each night, and then divides that by the best time that rider has ever had.  Who know's if that's right but boy it sounds technical.  There are a few more nights to go so plenty of time to make some improvement and take out the prize.

Thursday Roller Wrap-up - 3rd June 2010

Holy Cow!  He came, he rode, and he blew us all away.  Simon Burke's first heat ride was a staggering 9.50s.  What's scary is the fact that Simon thinks he can break in to the 8 second barrier.  Apart from Simon, the night started out slow with times improving as the night went on.  It came down to a very impressive Top 4, and then the highlight being a best of three race final.  It was a race between power and endurance.  Tree trunks for legs and sticks for legs.  Pictures from the night will be uploaded soon.

For those who are interested, the bikes are setup identically with 46 tooth chainring and 15 tooth rear cog.  This equates to a 82.2 inch rollout.  Now my maths isn't the best but that's an AVERAGE of 94.7km/hr and cadence of 239 for Simon's 9.5s pass.

Roller Racing This Thursday & Friday - 1st June 2010

We expect to have another action packed night of cadence at Bon Amici's this Thursday from 7pm so bring along some friends and have a fun night out.  We will then back up for another night at Bikeline for a social night were the roller racing crew will show the social club how its done... oh yes, that is a challenge to all the social members.  As always, lycra is optional but fun is mandatory.  Hope to see you there.

PS - The Race clubs got Brian Schmacker and Pete Bennett, the social club doesn't stand a chance.  Might I add, Pete currently has the record @ 9.81.  Unless Club Bikeline have recently signed up Michael Boardman or Graeme Obree... they don't stand a chance.  Prove us wrong!

Bikeline Racing Championship Series - 1st June 2010

It's time to hit the training... hard.  Bikeline Racing have released the racing calendar for the remainer of the year so get yourself ready for a HUGE championship series over the next 6 months.  There will be a KOM, two individual time trials, three road races and four crit races to keep you entertained amongst CQ's planned events.  Check the Bikeline Racing calendar for all the lastest dates and event details.  Remember, it's a Club Championship so you need to remain consistant and accrue points to take out the title of Bikeline Racing champion.

Roller Racing Night II Results - 27th May 2010

Well the night just keeps getting bigger and the records keep tumbling.  Not only do we have a new addition to the Sub 10 second group, but the new member has smashed the previous record.  Peter Bennett recorded a new time of 9.81 for a standing 250m.  On a sad note, Gary Kristensen's fashion sense took a huge hit, Jacob ripped his pants in an unfortunate spot and Peter Bennett destroyed a shoe lace.   Film crews where on-site for the action so I'm sure there will be some footage of these unfortunate events making it to a short movie... stay tuned for that.

It was great to see a few new faces and members from the public having a go for the first time.  Next weeks event is a little undecided at the moment but once the date is known, we will have the information up on the site.

Once again, big thank you to Gary K who has been providing sponsor products as prizes on the night.  There is a bucket of Torq energy powder for the series most improved rider.  So make sure you are there with some friends for some more high cadence action.

Roller Racing Night Results - 20th May 2010

What a huge night.  An awesome venue, great people and some nail biting head-to-head racing.  Two contestants now join the Sub-Ten Second club and it came down to the final where both riders went sub ten seconds again with only one one-hundredth of a second in it.  Special thanks to GARY KRISTENSEN, who supplied some SIS (Science In Sport) gels, Giro Key Rings and Prendas merchandise for the participants on the night.

RafGabby.jpg

It all happens again this Thursday night at Bon Amici's in Margaret Street.  Make sure you bring your friends and come down for some roller racing action.  It's only $5 to enter, lycra optional, fun is guaranteed.

Tour de Woomba Update - 27th April 2010

"Sandal Man", Pete Collins has posted the fastest time in the Highfields Time Trial event but it's not enough to knock Karl off the top of the overall position.  Pete is edging ever closer to that top position which may entice Karl to come over from Western Australia to push the limits even further.

Crestmead Summer Series - 9th March 2010 (Report by Chris Head)

In the forth and final round of the Crestmead Summer Criterium Series Alex Head finished in second place with Jacob Mouatt closely behind in forth. They were competing in the Elite B category in a field of 59.  Being both 16years old they were by far the youngest in the field.  They were both consistently in the top ten in all four rounds and Alex was rewarded with forth place in the overall series.  Combining with TCC team mate Ben Southey they rode with professionalism far exceeding their age and their consistency and sportsmanship was certainly commented on by their more experienced competitors.

Changes to Online Entry System - 4th March 2010

Cycling Queensland have recently changed the process by which members are able to nominate for Open Graded Events using the online entry system.  Previously any member who did not have an “Open Grading” was able to enter into an event using a race titled “Ungraded Riders Register Here”.  This process caused unnecessary extra workload on the state handicappers prior to events.  It also meant it was difficult to identify Masters Age Riders who hold Elite licences who wanted to ride in their Masters category.   Now, all members must have a grading before they nominate for a “graded event”.

The form can be completed and submitted online direct to Cycling Queensland.  Alternatively new members can print the form out and have a club official make a recommendation for their grade before submitting.

The Grading Application Form should be submitted at least twenty one (21) days prior to the event they wish to enter.  This ensures there is sufficient time for the handicapper to assess the request and provide a grade to the member before event entries close 14 days prior.

Below I have listed your clubs current members who do not have an “Open Road Grading.

U23 Peter Bennett
MMAS2 Andrew Gordon
MMAS6 Doug Harris
MMAS5 John Leopold
MMAS6 Philip Leyden
MMAS4 Karl Morris
Elite Damien Neilson

Toowoomba Crit Series Unofficial Standings - 21st February 2010

With some of the main contenders away for this weekends race, it was a good opportunity for some of the other competitors to move up the rankings.  Saturdays 4th crit race was tough with the westerly wind but it didn't stop break-a-ways forming in most grades.  Some great teamwork in A Grade saw Bikeline Racing come away with the win, Pete Collins leading out for Pete Bennett who threw the bike over the line to pip Cambell Kerr.  B Grade saw some huge hit outs from Jacob Mouatt to try and split up the bunch, but was unsuccessful, until he broke away again towards the end of the race to claim an impressive break-a-way win.

Congratulations to Oakey Compeditors - 19th February 2010

Some amazing results from our members at the recent Oakey 2 day event.  Peter Collins broke away on the last lap to claim 1st in the Road Race and was unfortunately blocked in the sprint but was still able to place 3rd in the Crit.  I'm not sure how he was able to sneak into C Grade but I'm sure CQ will be reviewing that.  Jimmy Pauli and Jacob Mouatt also had impressive rides placing well inside the top 10 on both days.  Also, a big thank you to all the members from Bikeline Racing who volunteered.  I'm sure TCC and CQ are thankful for your time and commitment.

Registration & Volunteers for Race 4 - 17th February 2010

If you are not racing this Saturday and are able to lend a hand in the afternoon, the club would really appreciate your help.  To ensure the safety of compeditors, we need a couple of traffic controllers so if you can, send us a message via this link, Contact Us.

Race 3 had approximately half the field registering at cutoff or after the cutoff time (3:30pm).  This caused delays with getting the racing underway and people being delayed attending functions afterwards.  Please make sure you register as soon as you arrive.  Registration time is between 3:00pm and 3:30pm but we are often setup prior to this time to minimise queues.  We will enforce this rule if required.

Toowoomba Crit Series - Race 4 - 15th February 2010

With the leaders of the series listed for all to see, competition is expected to be hot for race 4 in the Toowoomba Criterium Series.  Race 3 saw a lot of people registering after the 3-3:30pm slot which caused delays so remember to register early and then you can start your warm-up or cheering on the other grades.  Look forward to seeing you at the Toowoomba Thunderdome (Industrial Ave) from 3pm this Saturday (20th Feb 2010)

New Bikeline Racing Member - 15th February 2010

A big welcome to our newest member, Karl Morris.  Karl is one of those guys who hasn't ventured into the world of multiple gears, but can spin the pedals at a pretty quick rate.  Karl was recently at the World Masters Games in Sydney with Brian Schmacker and got a 4th place in the 750m Time Trial event.  If you see him about, I would have second thoughts about racing him to the next telephone pole.  You will most likely see Karl at the track on a Tuesday and Saturday afternoon, so if you can keep up, say G'day.

Cycling Queensland have issued a statement which will change the closing date for entries to open events.  Currently races close 7 days prior to the event, but this will be changing to 14 days prior to the race date.  This is to allow for sufficient time to prepare and conduct races, which involves finding suitably qualified officials, experienced volunteers, first aid considerations, permits and administration matters.  The board has accepted there will be a small phasing in period until the arrangement is fully implemented.

So, what does this mean for you?  Plan out your racing schedule.  Workout which CQ events you are preparing to race this year and set reminders with sufficient time to enter on the CQ website.  All current CQ event information is up on the Calendar page.
